In search of something easy, to fill my belly, close to my hotel in Albuquerque, I came across Relish. A quick check on yelp and I headed in. The shop is small and basic, but the sandwich is anything but. I ordered the Cubano, it came with a side salad, I chose the slaw, and a dill pickle. I paid my tab, 11 dollars, and headed back to the hotel. When I got back to my room I unwrapped the HUGE warm, toasty, crusty sandwich and ate the entire thing, and thought about going to get another one for later. A combo of roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese and pickles, all smeared with a cilantro mayo that made me lick the paper. The sandwich is crunchy on the outside, warm and melty on the inside and big enough for two! Unless you are me who doesn't like to share. The Slaw was a hicama, green apple slaw that was perfectly tangy as cole slaw is meant to be. Over all I'm in love with Relish and cant wait to get back to try the other sandwiches! more

We went to Relish today on the recommendation of a friend. We were disappointed to find the Central location seems to have changed into something else, so we settled for the Menaul location uptown.Pros: Ultra-friendly cashier, flavorful sandwiches. Cons: Haphazard atmosphere (the place looks half-finished and has zero ambience), sloooooooooooooooow service. We waited over 40 minutes for our sandwiches. (this would have really ticked me off if I'd gone in there on my lunch hour because I would never have had time to eat) Granted, they were busy, but a centrally-located business should probably be able to anticipate and prepare for a daily lunch rush. more

Aside from the glacial-paced service, we were disappointed that they'd run out of sides, forcing us to have chips instead, and they'd also run out of the special alpinette rolls for our sandwiches, so we had to settle for plain ol' rolls. We ordered the Mediterranean and the Grinder and when they finally came, we agreed that while the sandwiches were both tasty, they weren't a great value. My friend's Grinder in particular, looked pretty chintzy and small for its $9.50 price tag, with hardly any meat on it. Again - I'll give 'em credit for flavorful, but they're definitely overpriced. I'm used to paying $10 for a small sandwich in San Francisco, but in Albuquerque? Not so much. more

We've moved from Albuquerque and have been trying in every new city to find a sandwich shop to match Relish. I tell you, it's hard work! We even tried to make the green apple/hicama cole slaw at home, but it wasn't quite right. Count yourselves lucky to have this place in your town. Also always enjoyed finding out what physical description the staff wrote about us on the ticket in order to deliver our order. more
Not your traditional sandwich shop. Relish has a very limited menu of set sandwiches. 12/1/2010

However, all of their sandwiches are essentially perfect. Several have interesting twists that sound slightly gimmicky but aren't, turning out to instead be genius additions that cause the sandwich to transcend from "good" to "GREAT". Examples include the sliced tart apple on their Smoked Turkey 'wich and the wasabi mayo on their Honey Roast Turkey.Relish has, for years, been the go-to default lunch place for my co-workers and I in our downtown office. We pass four other sandwich shops on our three block walk to Relish. We all love it and even after four years of eating the same six sandwiches we aren't close to getting tired of it. more

Fantastic sandwiches here...really miss them. They're a little on the pricey side, but come out gigantic, and pretty much put your Potbelly or Which Wich sandwich to shame. If so inclined, you can keep one half for lunch and save the other for dinner.I always wanted to try the Rueben from here, but never got around to doing so. That, combined with my love of Tucanos, might just be enough to draw me back to Albuquerque. more

I frequented this place when it was brand new on Menaul. The staff was always friendly and I crave this place so much. They catered my friends' business for a grand opening and did a fantastic job. I still crave Relish regularly and have been gone for over four years. Being one of their first customers and supporters, I was excited they expanded to downtown ABQ. A smaller place with limited seating and even more yummy. Wish I could eat lunch there tomorrow! Mmmm...me so hungry for Relish.... more
I don't even need to describe how good this is... Go get one now. 12/1/2010

If you are in downtown Albuquerque, eat at Relish.... everyday! I do, and i love it. Every single one of their sandwiches are soo delicious in their own special way. The most popular sandwich is the Cubano, it is great it comes with this too good for words cilantro mayo. However, my personal favorite is the Double Decker Reuben.... Jesus Cristo! If I had to eat that sandwich everyday for the rest of my life, i would die a happy man. Then after you are done with your sandwich, you can order yourself a chocolate sandwich, which is made with Nutella, Ghirardelli chocolate squres, bananas and topped with cinnamon and sugar, it's then put in the panini press till it is nice and gooey.... I don't even need to describe how good this is... Go get one now. more

A fairly limited selection of sandwiches and salads. But what's on the menu is quality stuff. If you're a meatasaurus then you'll love the Cuban. For me, I can only go there so often before it gets repetative. The side pasta salad is also bland and tasteless. I just save it and give it to my dog afterward. more

On my recent stopover in Albuquerque (I think that's right) I went through downtown to look for some lunch. I saw some decently hip people sitting outside this place, so I thought this place couldn't be too bad. Twenty minutes later (parking is a bear) I finally walk through the doors, hungry as can be. The employees were covered with tattoos and dyed hair, but it seemed the norm for downtown ABQ. I ordered the roast beef with the pasta salad, and it was amazing. The combination of the roast beef, fresh mozzarella, and basil was amazing! I'm pretty sure they gave me the sesame ginger sauce instead of vinaigrette, but it actually worked out surprisingly well. The pasta salad was superb too, not too overpowering but very flavorful. One of the cons I have about this place is that there wasn't enough seating on the patio, so I had to enjoy the beautiful day from inside. Although the ingredients seemed high quality, I thought it was a bit pricy (almost ten bucks with a drink). more

I don't know about the downtown location, I've only been to the one on Menaul near Wyoming. Sandwiches are excellent, I love the reuben and the cubano. I'm going to have to try the chocolate sandwich sometime, but who has room in the stomach after their generous portions? $8 a sandwich and side, which is a good deal here. Cole Slaw could stand improvement. They use the best ingredients! more

Great, just great - the sandwiches are big and delicious. At lunchtime the line can stretch out the door, and it's worth the short wait anyway (they turn around your order surprisingly quickly.) I've lived in Albuquerque on and off for thirty years now and this is the best sandwich shop I've found yet. Try the Cubano and the Reuben. more

Great sandwiches! They were all kinda pricey but they include potato salad, coleslaw, and other crap. It was an awesome day to just hang out in the warm spring sun so it made it even better. If you're looking for an outside place with great sandwiches, then this is the place! more

Far be it from me to have a prejudicial attitude towards sandwiches in a place in New Mexico. I am a northern city boy mind you. But when I order a reuben in New Mexico and it comes out just as good as I want it, you better believe this place deserves some respect. Highly suggested. You could eat here almost every day if so inclined. more
