Final YogARTS Session Recap

School Newsletter: June 2024 - Schoenbaum Family Center (3)

The capstone session of the Wexner Center for the Arts Partnership YogARTS @ SFC was a tremendous success. During the session, families joined yoga teacher Deja Redman in a journey of mindfulness and imagination, as the children metamorphosized into butterflies.

Over the course of this once-monthly movement and artmaking project, YogARTS has built a connection between families and has provided healthy transition techniques for grownups and their children. And to further support children in their emotional wellness at school, ASR staff participated in a professional development session with the Replenish teachers.Teachers will utilize the mindfulness and breathing techniques children learned in YogARTS to build their social-emotional skillsets in the classroom.

Library Update

Many thanks to families for turning in their library books! This makes our summer inventory project go much smoother. The school’s library will be closed from June 5-11 as Miss Sarah is out of the office. Checkouts can still be done at the self-checkout station at throughout the week.

To celebrate Juneteenth, Ilyas H.’s family is going to share their family’s traditions in a library display of photographs. If your family has special Pride or Juneteenth traditions they would like to share in a display, feel free to contact Sarah at simpson.962@osu.edu.

New library programs to check out this summer are the ASR Summer Reading Challenge and the Snack Pack program in Weinland Park. For more information about these two new programs, see the June events calendar.
