You guys are the pits of the world!

Oh, this is no place for me
Burnin' down the interbelt, from jacuzzi to jacuzzi
It's all right for you man
Gettin' smashed, gettin' suntanned
But I know my place
Where's my suitcase?

Pack it up or throw it away
What I can't carry, bury
Oh you remember me, I remember you
But that was a long, long time ago
When I was passin' through

All my family, all my friends, my lover
I got to find them
My enemies, my new family, my new friends
My future enemies, I got to flush them out

Pack it all up, nothing goes in storage
I'm burnin' every bridge
Burn, baby, burn
I see your dog got shot
Well, hell, never mind
That's show biz, big boy
You've got to be cruel to be kind

Oh, give over and admit it
I've been tearing down the interstate
Like some kind of bleeding cat
It's all right for the boss
His gain's my loss
That gets me down, it really gets me down

So pack it up and cut the crap
When the clock starts talkin', I start walkin'
When you pass in your Porsche
Please don't offer me a ride
I may be a skunk
But you're a piece of junk, and furthermore
I don't like your trousers
Your appalling taste in women
And what about your mind
Your insipid record collection
That dumb home video center
The usual p*rnography
And all you scumbags around the world
You're the pits of the world!

    My Interpretation

Pack It Up-my favorite Pretenders song! Chrissie Hynde is mad as hell and she's not gonna take it anymore. She is an activist rocker-the last of her kind! Hail Hail Rock

    General Comment

I think the song is about Nick Lowe. I think she hated him and couldn't wait to get out of his orbit after he produced the first Pretenders album. Using the title of his most famous song as a line in this song ("That's show biz big boy, you've got to be cruel to be kind!") was a dig at him. The song is a first-rate sneer on Hynde's part. Love it!

Siberian Kiss Glassjaw its amazing how far music can come.. 24 years after it released and its one of the most heartfelt songs ive heard Corpse I Fell In Love With Gadjits, The He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could. Light Up The Sky Van Halen The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it. Standing On The Edge Of Summer Thursday In regards to the meaning of this song:Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul. Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri Hayalperest This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
