There aren’t too many food combinations better than bacon, cheddar, and ranch – but we might have outdone ourselves on this one, because we threw some crescent dough into the mix!

These little bacon pinwheels have that delicious, buttery goodness of a crescent roll and they’re filled with cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, green onions, and a sprinkling of ranch seasoning.

When I say people rave about these little pinwheels, I mean it. I’m asked for the recipe every time I serve these at parties!

So, yeah, these are a definite party staple in my house and have been for years and years, but it probably comes as no surprise that I’ve made them a few times here and there for lunch for me and the kiddos too!

You have all the food groups here, if we can call green onions a veggie and they’re literally named GREEN onions, so I think it counts…green = veggie in my book!

Crescent Roll Dough – The dough sheets are easiest (no perforations!), but regular crescent dough is fine too. Just unroll it and press the seams together with your fingers.

Bacon You’ll need to fry up some bacon and chop it into pieces. We usually make bacon ahead of time and have it ready to go for recipes like this. Check out this air fryer bacon recipe, it’s super quick and easy clean up!

Cheese – Some shredded cheddar and cream cheese will add lots of creamy, cheesy flavor to this easy pinwheel recipe!

Ranch Seasoning – We keep a shaker container of this on hand. You can also use a packet.

Green Onion – These go in with the bacon and cheddar cheese to get rolled up into the pinwheel dough and baked!

Why We Love This Recipe!

These pinwheels are so easy to make! You can just roll out the crescent dough, pile on the ingredients, roll it back up and get to baking! It’s a quick and easy appetizer that we love to serve at gatherings and cheddar, bacon, and ranch are always a hit!

How To Make Bacon Pinwheels:

Dough: Roll the dough out onto a large cutting board.

Helpful Tip!

Dough Sheets Vs. Crescent Rolls

Pillsbury sells crescent dough sheets right next to the crescent rolls and we love them! If you can’t find them, go ahead and use crescent rolls. The only difference is that you’ll need to pinch the seams together to form a solid sheet of dough.

Cream Cheese: When you’ve got the dough rolled out and shaped you can start spreading the cream cheese over the top of the dough in an even layer. Next, sprinkle on the ranch seasoning over the cream cheese!

Roll: Starting with the widest side, start rolling the dough up, just like you would a cinnamon roll. Use a serrated knife to slice the dough into 1/2″ pieces and pop them on a baking sheet.

Bake: Bake at 375 for 15 minutes or until nice and golden.

FAQs:

How to store bacon pinwheels?

These are best made fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge and reheated briefly in a hot oven, just until warmed through.

How long do you bake crescent roll pinwheels?

We bake these pinwheels at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes – just long enough to cook the centers through and turn the edges golden brown.

Serves 16 pinwheels

Ingredients

  • 1 package crescent roll dough sheet
  • 2 ounces cream cheese room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon ranch seasoning powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 5 slices bacon fried and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  • Unroll the crescent dough on a cutting board. If there are seams in the dough, press together with your fingers to form a solid sheet of dough.

  • Spread the dough with the cream cheese and sprinkle with ranch seasoning.

  • Sprinkle on the bacon, cheddar, and green onion.

  • Roll the dough up, jelly roll style, starting with the long side of the dough. Slice into 16 pieces, about 1/2 inch each. Place on a large baking sheet.

  • Bake for 15 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and golden.

  • Serve warm or at room temperature.

Tips & Notes:

We prefer to buy the crescent dough sheets for recipes like this, as they’re not perforated. If you can’t find the dough sheets, just use regular crescent dough and pinch together the seams.
